TAILORED SOLUTIONS FOR YOU
At Precision Integrated Medical Specialists, our team perform a variety of procedures and surgeries. Some of the more common procedures we performed are described here.
Some of the more common procedures we perform:
Gallbladder Surgery – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Surgery to remove the gallbladder is known as a cholecystectomy. This is a common procedure that is most commonly used to treat gallstones or recurrent gallbladder infection (cholecystitis). This surgery is relatively safe, and is usually performed using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. That allows most patients to return home the same day or the next day. When this is done via laparoscopy (using several small incisions and specialised keyhole instruments) it is known as a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Breast Cancer Surgery
What is a Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy?
This is a surgical procedure undertaken to determine whether the tumour has spread into the lymphatic system. The sentinel lymph node, located in the armpit, is frequently the place where cancer cells spread to initially. If tumour cells are detected, your surgeon may recommend further surgery or other treatments.
Lumpectomy is a less invasive surgical procedure than mastectomy, and is ideal for patients with a small breast lump which needs to be removed.
Lumpectomies usually leave minimal scarring and don’t tend to change the shape of the breast. Depending upon the outcome of the lumpectomy (ie the type of tumour that it is, for example), further treatment may be required.
Comprehensive and Less Invasive Mastectomy Solutions
Traditional mastectomy involves the surgical removal of a portion or the entire breast when large areas of breast cancer are detected. That procedure is often followed by breast reconstruction, in order to restore the appearance of the breast following removal of the tumour.
Hernia surgery has evolved considerably over the past decade.
Traditional, or open, hernia surgery, is still indicated in certain situations, however surgical advances have created many more options for patients.
Endoscopy: Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy
Endoscopic procedures involve the use of a special camera which is inserted into the gastrointestinal tract either via the mouth (gastroscopy) or anus (colonoscopy).
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio – Pancreatography (ERCP)
What is ERCP?
ERCP is a special technique used to study the gall bladder, bile ducts, and pancreatic duct and gallbladder.
How is ERCP performed?
During ERCP, your specialist will pass an gastroscope (a thin tube with an inbuilt video camera) through your mouth, oesophagus and stomach, and then into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
